Spark Insight Day at Victoria Station

On the 2nd of July, we had the privilege of hosting a group of students from the Spark Charity organisation for an unforgettable Insight Day at Victoria Station. It was a moment that brought together purpose, partnership, and possibility, and reminded us of the power of connection to shape futures.

Spark is a London-based charity dedicated to supporting young people, including those who are neurodivergent or care-experienced, to explore career opportunities and develop the skills they need to thrive. We are incredibly proud to be working alongside this inspiring organisation to support the next generation in building meaningful futures.

Over the past year, we have collaborated with Spark to deliver a range of initiatives, including career fairs, work experience placements, and discussion groups with care-experienced students. This Insight Day was a continuation of that journey and a particularly special one.

At Victoria Station, we welcomed a brilliant group of neurodivergent students and introduced them to our Transport division. The day included an in-depth look at the GTR Fleet Contract and the wide variety of exciting career paths within the facilities management sector. From hands-on activities to engaging team-based games, the day was packed with energy and learning.

The enthusiasm from every student was incredible. Their curiosity, ideas, and teamwork brought the day to life, and nothing topped the joy of seeing them leave smiling, empowered, and each carrying a well-deserved goody bag.

“I just wanted to take a moment to express my heartfelt thanks for what was truly an outstanding Insight Day. Your thoughtful planning, warm hospitality, and genuine generosity made the day not only a success but something truly special.

The young people who attended had a fantastic experience; they were engaged, inspired, and left with a real sense of excitement about what a future at Churchill could look like. Since the event, several have expressed a keen interest in exploring job opportunities within your organisation, which is a testament to the lasting impression you made.

Teachers have also been overwhelmingly complimentary, describing Churchill as one of the most generous and forward-thinking companies they’ve encountered. They were particularly struck by the breadth of opportunity you offer, not just for those ready to begin building sustainable careers, but also for young people who are still exploring their options and looking to gain valuable work experience and skills.

There was high praise, too, for the flexibility of working hours and the welcoming, inclusive culture of your organisation. Many of the educators commented on how refreshing it was to see a company so genuinely committed to supporting neurodiverse young people, with a willingness to adapt and empower individuals to thrive in their own way.

Mike, a special thank you to you, your mentorship on the day stood out as exceptional. You managed to strike just the right balance in working with young people who have additional needs, and your calm, encouraging approach made a real difference.”

For many of us, the day was personally meaningful. As Michael Cairo, Account Director, shared:

“This experience was deeply personal and profoundly fulfilling. This is what leadership is truly about: creating impact, opening doors, and shaping futures. These moments of connection and shared growth are at the heart of why I do what I do.”

This event also marked a personal milestone for Karen Caruso, Strategic Relationship Director at Churchill:

“This was a great first-year anniversary event for me, having completed my first year with Churchill. It’s part of a broader programme of engagement and support we are delivering with Spark.”

We are committed to building a strong and lasting partnership with Spark. The feedback we received reinforces just how powerful these collaborative efforts can be. Together, we are not only inspiring young minds, but we are also opening pathways and creating real opportunities.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone involved for making this day such a success. Here’s to many more moments of shared inspiration and impact in the future.
