DeliVR
As transport is one of our most significant cleaning sectors, it was the perfect space to showcase the benefits that could be realised by investing in our newest form of training.
Instead of relying on operatives reading manuals, we introduced virtual reality training. We simulated our train cleaning operations, specifically ‘rolling stock’ when a train is in a turnaround clean. Scenarios involve collecting rubbish, re-stocking washrooms and cleaning spillages when a train is at the end of its route.
The VR programme gives operatives an insight into what a day on the job looks like by allowing them to virtually walk through the train carriages, spotting rubbish and spillages, and restocking consumables. This gives a feel for the on-the-job tasks that the industry cannot replicate in typical training settings. Users get scores and feedback immediately after a session which can be logged and discussed with their supervisors.
We call our training programme DeliVR and its innovative use of the latest virtual reality hardware and software has won us an IWFM Impact Award and seen us shortlisted for an i-FM Technology Award.
